Freemasons from Paulinus Lodge in Lincoln have teamed up with Essex Freemasons to support dementia sufferers – and other Lincolnshire Lodges have been invited to be part of the partnership.
Lodge Director of Ceremonies Chuck Boulton explained that they’re to get a supply of colouring books donated by Essex Freemasons for people in various stages of dementia. He said: “Paulinus Lodge members have supported a Buddies Dementia Cafe for a number of years by taking members in various stages of Dementia to the meetings.
“Through our Lodge member Dave Robinson we’ve been put in touch with David Barton, the Provincial Communications Officer in Essex, and he’s offered to donate 1,000 books for us from a scheme he’s developed there. David Barton said: “We are happy to donate 1,000 books to Lincolnshire Freemasons to get the ball rolling, after that of course donations to purchase more would be the order of the day. It doesn’t take many lodges to donate a few hundred pounds each to pool enough money to buy a substantial amount of books – a bit like the Teddies for Loving Care model.
