Children at two schools in Long Sutton in South Lincolnshire are benefitting from a £4,000 donation from the town’s Freemasons, which will be used to buy laptop computers.
Long Sutton Primary School and University Academy Long Sutton have been given £2,000 each from the Garthwaite Masonic Benevolent Fund, which operates the Long Sutton Masonic Centre. Chairman of Trustees John Grimwood said the idea for giving computers had been suggested by Martin Dickinson of St Mary Lodge. “It was a brilliant idea to support disadvantaged children in Long Sutton with home schooling. Because we have provided funding through the Fund, every Freemason in Long Sutton has helped with the contribution.”
A spokesman for UALS said the school had been overwhelmed by the donation.”This money will support the remote education of young people in the community.” Both schools have operated the Government scheme for laptops, circumstances for some families had changed, and children had joined the schools since the start of the scheme. “The devices we are bow able to purchase will enable both schools to support more families in the community.”
John added: “This is great example of everyone in the community working together.”
