Every new initiate to a Lincolnshire Lodge is to be sent a personal letter of welcome from our Provincial Charity Steward Pete Tong, enclosing copies of Masonic Lincs and our #Lincs2025 Festival relaunch booklet.
His thinking is that new initiates have much to learn, not just about Freemasonry itself, but also what it means to be part of it. He said: “They’ve taken a life-changing step, with the potential to enrich their lives by bringing them into contact with lots of like-minded, friendly people amongst whom they’ll make friends they could probably never have met in any other way.
“They’ll naturally be welcomed by members of their own Lodge, but in Lincolnshire there are about 3,000 of us, all of whom would welcome them if we could. By writing to them on behalf of myself and our PGM Dave Wheeler I hope they will recognise the strength of that welcome, and feel not only that they are included in what we do, but also understand a little more of why we do it.
“Given the number of initiates we will have as Freemasonry gathers momentum again, writing so many letters will involve a bit of work, but I haven’t the slightest doubt it will be worth it in the long run. Initiates are the future of Freemasonry. We have a duty of care to the craft to sustain it into the years ahead by helping the people who represent its future.”
