Next March two Lincolnshire Freemasons will be going higher than anyone before to raise money for our #Lincs2025 Festival – by trekking for a dozen days to reach Everest Base Camp, almost 3.5 miles above sea level.
Rob, Jez, and Ruby, Jez’s spaniel – but she won’t be gong to Everest.
Festival Chairman Jez Hyland and Franklin Lodge Master Rob Wright will make the self-funded assault along with five friends, slogging ahead for seven hours a day for a dozen days through the dangers of altitude sickness, limited food, questionable sanitation, and no showers.
Says Jez: “There’s no doubt it will be tough, but it will also be an experience to remember. What’s more, if we can reach our £5,000 target it will have been worth it because of the good the MCF will be able to do with the money, from supporting victims of wars and natural disasters, sustaining the work of the Hospice movement, researching cures for common diseases, and supporting fellow Freemasons going through tough times.”
Travelling with Jez and Rob will be Kenny and Cameron Doig, Steve Tetther, Dean Edwards and Andrew Pawley. Rob said: “They’re not Freemasons, but understand the work of the MCF, and Jez and I are grateful that they are as committed as we are to what we’re trying to achieve.”
Can you support the Magnificent Seven Everest trekkers? Click on the ‘donate now’ button on their GiveTap donation page here All the money you donate will go directly to the MCF and be credited to our Festival. The trekkers are paying for their involvement out of their own pockets.
