Phil Odling won the star prize of a golfing holiday in Portugal in the Centenary competition organised by the Lincolnshire Masonic Golfing Association and has just been presented with it!
The prize was donated by Señor Manuel Guedes de S0usa, Deputy General Manager of the five-star Hotel Palacio in Estoril
The prize was a central feature in celebrations of the Association’s centenary, to mark which a match was played at the Seacroft Club in Skegness, home of one of the first matches played by the Association.
Formed in 1922, the Lincolnshire Masonic Golfing Association holds competitions throughout Lincolnshire, raising money for charity as it does so – and the Centenary event took the running total raised over the last century to more than £50,000.
The Association plays several events throughout the year, including spring and autumn events where there are several trophies to play for, along with a Mixed Am-Am and some inter-Province competitions. Golfers who are not Freemasons (men and ladies) are very welcome at our Open Events event and there’s a prize for them too. One of the Associations most famous founder members was Colonel Stafford Vere Hotchkin, who remodelled the Woodhall Spa golf course in the 1920’s, known since then as the ‘Hotchkin’ course.
