Brethren and Companions,
Once again, as last year, we find ourselves in the throes of the Coronavirus pandemic. In spite of its having continued for almost two years, we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that in the context of history a pandemic is a ‘here and now’ problem which I am sure we will soon learn to live with rather than live through.
In terms of Freemasonry, its values are nothing if not resilient. How else would it have survived for more than 300 years? I therefore remain optimistic about our future and I am convinced that the next five years will see a renaissance in terms of our membership and our activities both within our meetings and within our local communities.
At this special time of the year, we acknowledge the debt we owe to those who continue to provide the services on which we have grown to rely on. I particularly think of the NHS teams and other front-line responders who continue to work so hard to keep us all safe.
Whilst I hope that we all have the opportunity to spend time with our loved ones at Christmas, let us not forget those we have lost over the course of the last year and who we will always remember in our hearts.
To all within the family of Lincolnshire Freemasons I wish you a very merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and happy New Year.
With festive and fraternal wishes,
Dave Wheeler
Provincial Grand Master
Grand Superintendent
“Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance — a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.” – Augusta E. Randel
