Lincoln Freemason Roger Hansard and his wife Joy represented the Charity Stewards from all of Lincolnshire’s 75 Masonic Lodges by taking part in the St Barnabas Hospice Light Up A Life torchlight procession in the city.
He’s the Charity Steward at Witham Lodge in the city, and Joy once worked for the Hospice, so it was felt appropriate that they should represent the Province at the event.
Provincial Grand Charity Steward Pete Tong said: “I have the honour of leading a team of 75 Charity Stewards who are responsible for encouraging our members to give to charity, and who, I am delighted to say, are very successful in that. As it is the Charity Stewards who are central to what we do, we felt that it would be fitting for one of them to represent Freemasonry in Lincolnshire on this occasion. It was equally appropriate for Joy to represent our wives and partners who do so much to help us to raise the money we give to charity.”
Hospice Fundraising Development Manager Caroline Swindin said: “I have learned much from this, particularly the role of the Charity Stewards, who do an incredible job and as a Hospice we remain indebted to the support we receive from the Freemasons and the difference you all make to the care and support we provide to our patients and their families throughout Lincolnshire each day.”
Roger and Joy walked at the head of the procession to mark the Province’s commitment as a principal sponsor for next year’s street art HeART campaign being run by St Barnabas.
