Animated discussion about welcoming new members into Freemasonry took place during the second of a series fo seminars being staged for Lincolnshire Freemasons.
This session was at the Lincoln HQ on Nettleham Road, and involved Lodge officials who’l have a role to play in supporting new Freemasons joining the 300–year-old organisation.
Said Stuart Pearcey, who looks after PR for Freemasonry in Lincolnshire, said: “Freemasonry is life-changing not only for those who become members, but also for the people we support. For individuals, it teaches us how to be better versions of ourselves, in the company of like-minded people we\d be unlikely to meet in any other way. Our meetings are always full of laughter and chatter, and provide a brief oasis of calm in an otherwise stressful and turbulent world.
“We also support those having a tough experience financially and emotionally by giving time and money to good causes. In 2020 Freemasons gave almost £1m a week to charities and good causes in need of support – all of it given by Freemasons themselves, and not from third parties. Because there are so many of us, a relatively small donation from an individual combines with other similar ones to make a huge difference – and the thousands we’ve helped, from the Hospice movement to scout groups and those helping the homeless will testify.”
More seminars for other Lodge officials are being arranged.
