Provincial Membership team launches ‘Open Day In A Box’ initiative
August 16, 2021Motorcycling Freemasons riding under the banner of The Lincs Imps have helped improve the quality of life for people supported by smaller hard-pressed charities in the county.
The riders are is Lincolnshire’s provincial representatives of the Widows Sons Masonic Biker Association, all of whose enjoyment of riding motorbikes, coupled with charity fundraising, aims to show the public, Freemasons and Freemasonry in a good light, and to promote its benefits.
This year The Lincs Imps have carried out various activities to raise money for their charity fund, and done things for those needing help. Fund raising has taken the form of Christmas tree collections, raffles, BBQs and general fund collections when they’ve had breakfast meets and ride outs.
So far this year the Imps have made donations of:
- £300 to Jamie#forever12, a charity set up to purchase gifts for children with cancer, life limiting conditions, and who are terminally ill
- £500 to The Butterfly Hospice. This hospice is dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients and families facing life limiting illness
- £300 to Naomi’s Garden, which offers a number of therapies and services to facilitate relief from, and triumph over, the effects of disability, sickness, suffering, isolation and hardship.
- £300 to Mablethorpe Athletic JFC to buy much-needed equipment
Said Imps secretary Tim Higham Jones: “We have donated funds to Lincolnshire charities that are small and often overlooked, and to assist those activities within the Masonic Province of Lincolnshire that help others have a little fun.
“The Lincs Imps WSMBA hold regular breakfast meets around the county on the second Sunday of the month and rides out to events and venues. If you are interested in what we do either as Freemasons or as a motorcyclists please contact Steve Shucksmith by email on president@lincsimps.wsmba.uk or me at secretary@lincsimps.wsmba.uk.”
